Description

The presentation Canada's Global Partnership Status Report by Michael Washer from the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on the country's programme through 2008, which included the dismantlement of 12 decommissioned Russian nuclear submarines and defueling their 24 reactors. Canada started the modernisation of a railroad in the Far-East to begin the transportation of accumulated submarine spent nuclear fuel (SNF) from the Zvezda shipyard. Twenty-five radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTGs) had been recovered from the Russian North-West.
