The statutory atomic energy licensing procedure for KKI No. 2

The 'convoy' plant of Kraftwerk Union Company (pressurized water reactor, 1300 MW capacity class, also referred to as series 80) is a continuous further development of Grafenrheinfeld, Philippsburg 2, Grohnde and Brokdorf. Following a description of the Isar No. 2 nuclear power station, a detailed account is given of the design and layout concept varied in comparison with previous plants and in particular of the premise for the statutory atomic energy licensing procedure in the 'convoy'. Variations are evaluated in detail and critically in regard to the licensing procedure which has been applied hitherto and is being carried out together with the procedure for the Emsland and Neckarwestheim 2 (initially also Biblis C) nuclear power stations. In conclusion the relevant measures taken by the Federal Government for accelerating the licensing procedure for nuclear power stations are discussed. (orig.)
