Solidification of radioactive wastes by hot pressing method
Description
Hot pressing technology was developed for low- and medium-level radioactive wastes using binding substances and varying wastes of industry (slags, ashes). The process involves concurrent pressure (P = 10-50 MPa) and temperature (70-200 deg C) action on the compound. The hot pressing procedure makes possible increasing deposition of the compounds 2-3 times and more; improving physical and mechanical parameters (strength, density, porosity, shock strength, waterproof) as compared with the traditional methods. The method allows decreasing leaching degree on 2-3 orders, to perform compacting and conterization of radioactive wastes without recourse to metallic vessels. 5 refs.; 1 fig.; 1 tab
