ALOK 3 offers faster ultrasonic inspection

  • 1. Siemens/KWU (Germany, F.R.). Testing Techniques Dept.

Description

Siemens/KWU's ALOK system promises considerable savings in inspection time. Baseline inspection on the reactor pressure vessels of three plants provided an opportunity to put the system through its paces. The system was developed with the aim of producing faster testing, more reliable results and clear, efficient documentation. It can be used for in-service inspection of the lower sections of reactor pressure vessels and, with different manipulators, for primary system components. Testing is speeded up by the use of the new central mast manipulators. They reduce the time required to change a shell examination system to about half an hour. (author)
