Legislative, regulatory and industry developments in the USA - a nuclear power programme in transition

Creators

  • 1. Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver and Jacobsob, Washington, DC (USA)

Description

This paper focuses on institutional changes which are underway in the US nuclear power programme - and more particularly, on Congressional, Nuclear Regulatory Commission and industry developments which are in the process of reshaping that programme in fundamental ways. Developments during the past year (1986) have highlighted the transformation which the US nuclear power programme has been undergoing for some time. They have also underscored the extent to which the structural and other changes now being charted will determine the US programme's future. These include the programme of high-level radioactive waste. (author)
