Description

Objective: To compare CT value of adult thyroid among Uygur, Han, Hui ethnic at Xinjiang. Methods: In strict accordance with the inclusion criteria, we selected 452 cases and retrospectively analyzed from continuous neck spiral CT scans in our hospital. The Uygur group included 34 male cases, 132 female cases; the Han group included 60 male cases, 114 female cases; the Hui group included 44 male and 68 female cases. Age range was 23∼79 years, young adult group ≤ 35 year-old, middle-age adult group 35∼50 year-old, and elderly adult group ≥ 50 year-old. Thyroid CT values were measured from each group. The values were statistically analyzed between male and female, and among Uygur, Han, Hui. Results: Uyghur adult normal thyroid CT value of the left lobe was (122.73 ± 20.28) HU, the right lobe thyroid CT value was (122.13 ± 20.34) HU; Han Chinese adult normal thyroid CT value of the left lobe was (123.62 ± 18.58) HU, normal adults of Hui ethnic thyroid CT value of the left lobe was (122.54 ± 20.22) HU, the right lobe CT value was (120.69 ± 18.03) HU. In the elderly adult group, and female subjects in the middle-age adult group, the CT values of thyroid lobes differed significantly among Uyghur, Han, and Hui ethnic groups (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The normal ranges of Uygur, Han and Hui adults thyroid CT values measured from the 452 normal cases have important clinical significance for diagnosing thyroid diseases in Xinjiang province.
