Magnetocalorical effect in rare earth Gd-Ho and Gd-Er alloys

Description
Measurings of magnetocalorical effect (MCE) have been conducted in Gd-Ho and Gd-Er alloys. It has been found out that MCE in the points of magnetic phase transitions attains rather high magnitudes (up to 10.5 K in 6 T magnetic field) and considerably exceeds MCE in 3d-metals. It has been established that MCE at a temperature of transition from the magneto-ordered state to the paramagnetic one is governed by a mean value of spin projection onto the total mechanical moment of a rare earth metal ion
