Description

The profiles of weak Fraunhofer lines in solar radiation have been computed under the assumption that nonthermal broadening and assymmetry of the lines are caused by wave and convective motions. From a comparison of computed and observed line profiles, it follows that on the major part of the Sun surface a horizontal flow with a velocity of 2.7 km/s exists. The velocity of upflow is equal to 0.9 km/s. The granule-intergranule temperature difference is approximately 330 K
