Hydrogen Economy

There is a lot of hope pinned on hydrogen as a fuel to replace all fossil fuel. This may sound too ambitious, but a lot of innovation is going on to make the hydrogen economy a reality. As a carbon-free energy carrier, hydrogen can make a major contribution to reduce greenhouse gases and air pollution and thus help to protect the climate. Without increased use of hydrogen, it will hardly be possible to reduce global CO₂ emissions to the levels needed to meet climate protection and ambitious political targets. In other words: Without hydrogen and the chemical energy carriers based on it, global, successful climate protection is simply not possible. (author)
