Satisfying boundary conditions in three dimensions

Description

An approximate stratagem, termed the ''Distorted Buckling Method'' is proposed which can be used to satisfy the boundary conditions in 2 or 3 dimensions for the neutron diffusion equation. Boundary conditions are rigorously satisfied in reflector regions adjacent to the faces of the reactor core, but are only approximately satisfied in the corner regions. The method is illustrated with a calculation in 2 dimensions. The results are compared with those obtained by use of a diffusion code, and are found to be in good agreement everywhere but in the corner regions of the reflector. (Author)
