Description
Equilibrium effects, neoclassical tearing modes, and resistive wall modes are discussed as phenomena limiting attainable plasma pressure, with emphasis on the current progress in theoretical studies at the Kurchatov Institute. The review is based on the results presented at the 11th International Congress on Plasma Physics (Sydney, 2002)
