Description

This publication gathers contributions of scientists which propose detailed discussions of various aspects related to water levels. A first part gathers contributions related to sea level and associated phenomena: high sea levels, waves and sea state, waves generated by a ship, sea levels in estuaries. The second part addresses rises of water level in rivers and the associated events: waterway hydro-metry, assessment of extreme flow rates by the 'methode du renouvellement', hydraulic aspects of rise in water levels, rise in water levels in small drainage basins, works failures, dike failure, lapping. The next set of contributions addresses phenomena which could affect all types of sites: rain waters and run-off, consequences of a wave on a site, underground water rising, degradation or dysfunction of works, circuits or equipment, dysfunction of hydraulic works, overstepping due to waves. A last part addresses the probabilistic characterization of extreme phenomena, and rain and flow rate warning systems
