Detection of trace elements and implanted B+ in steel by laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry

Description

Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) has demonstrated its potential in situ microanalysis for trace elements in solid, such as steel. It is possible to determine ion implanted B+ with 200 KeV energy in steel sample by using laser ablation as introduction system for ICP-MS. Investigation of the depth profile shows that the highest concentration of boron under the surface is located at about 0.33 MOU m. The quantification of the analytical results is carried out using NIST steel (461, 462, 464, 465, 466 and 468) as a standard reference materials. The relative sensitivity coefficients (RSC's) for most of the elements vary between 0.3 and 2.12
