Temperature rise in the lambertsen septum magnet associated with the positron target
Description
This note presents the results of EGS calculations and simple analytic models for the temperature rise in a spoiler, and magnet iron following such a spoiler, for a 33 GeV electron beam. Temperature rises in both spoiler and magnet iron of less than 1000C/pulse are possible for 100μ (Gaussian sigma) beams of 5 x 1010e-/pulse. The results should allow for easy optimization of spoiler thickness and spoiler-to-magnet separation distances. 3 references, 9 figures
