Improved confinement in high density ohmic discharge in JIPP T-IIU
Description
The improvement of the confinement of the ohmic plasma with limiter configuration, similar to the improved ohmic confinement (IOC) mode of ASDEX, is observed in JIPP T-IIU. The features of our IOC mode are summarized in the following way. 1) the circular limiter-plasma instead of the divertor plasma, 2) very high density threshold for IOC in contrast to the ASDEX IOC mode. 3) no enhanced radiation due to impurity accumulation. The preliminary experimental results are discussed. (author)
