Description
Gd2Zr2O7 was synthesized by coprecipitation method. The ultrasonic stirring during the process was found to have good effect on uniform dispersion of the precursor powder. The best crystallization of the precursor powder was 800 C. Gd2Zr2O7 exhibited much lower thermal conductivity than 7YSZ and it also possessed other desirable specifications for a TBC material: high thermal expansion coefficient, low elastic modulus, high hardness, and chemical stability at high temperature.
