Description
The analysis of natural radionuclides 238U, 232Th and 40K was carried out in sediment samples of in and around Chennai Coast, Tamilnadu using gamma ray spectrometry with NaI(Tl) detector. To assess the radiation hazards in sediment samples, absorbed dose rate and annual effective dose rate was calculated and compared internationally approved values. The average value of absorbed dose rate and annual effective dose rate was less than the recommended safety limits showing that sediments are free from radiation hazards. (author)
