Magnetic resonance imaging of the pelvis

  • 1. Diagnostic Radiology, Dept. of Radiology, Univ. of New Mexico School of Medicine, Univ. of New Mexico Hospital, Albuquerque, NM

Description

This chapter gives an overview of MRI applied to the pelvis as well as includes up-to-date knowledge and potential applications. It can be concluded that MR scanning will prove a very important technique in imaging of the pelvis, especially in the work-up of gynecologic and obstetric problems, as well as in the treatment of pediatric patients for whom numerous follow-up exams are necessary, along with more routine indications. It is clear that not only is the pelvis well adapted to imaging with MR, but that MR adds important new dimensions in diagnostic imaging. Much more experience and data regarding the parameters of tissue characterization are necessary before MRI is to become widely used
