Possibilities for the long-term disposal of radioactive waste materials by storing them in the polar ice
Description
Automatic translation: As the use of nuclear reactors increases, so does the amount of highly radioactive waste generated during the processing of irradiated Fuel elements are incurred. Mit wachsendem Einsatz von Kernreaktoren steigt auch die Menge von hochradioaktiven Abfällen, die bei der Verarbeitung von bestrahlten Brennelementen anfallen. Sie müssen über säkulare Zeiträume von der Biosphäre ferngehalten werden. Es wird die Möglichkeit diskutiert, die hochradioaktiven Abfallstoffe durch Einlagerung in die Eiskappen der Antarktis und Grönlands für die erforderliche Dauer aus dem menschlichen Lebensraum zu beseitigen. Hierbei zeigt sich, daß nach dem heutigen Stand des Wissens die Methode der Endlagerung hochradioaktiver Abfälle in den polaren Eiskappen - besonders in der Antarktis sich als praktikable und wahrscheinlich sichere Alternative zu der Lagerung in Salzformationen anbietet.Files
