Multielement determination in marble from Carrara and limestone standard KH by neutron activation analysis

Description
Instrumental neutron activation analysis combined with Ge(Li) γ-ray spectrometry has been used to determine the concentrations of 22 elements in marble from Carrara. The material is shown to be suitable as a comparative multielement standard for the analysis of samples with low concentrations of the elements concerned. Analytical results obtained for 23 elements in the standard reference material limestone KH (distributed by the ZGI) are also given. To correct pile-up errors in measurements of short-lived radionuclides having high starting activities a numerical method was introduced. A comparison with the pulser-timing procedure has been carried out for the analysis of aluminium. Consistent results were obtained by both methods. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Mit der Bestimmung von 22 Elementen in Carrara-Marmor durch zerstoerungsfreie Neutronenaktivierungsanalyse in Verbindung mit Ge(Li)-Gamma-Spektrometrie wird die Eignung dieses Materials als spurenelementarmer Multielementstandard gezeigt. Fuer den Kalksteinstandard KH des ZGI werden die Analysenergebnisse fuer 23 Elemente mitgeteilt. Zur Korrektur von pile-up-Fehlern bei der Messung kurzlebiger Radionuklide mit hoher Anfangsaktivitaet wird ein rechnerisches Verfahren angegeben. Ein Vergleich mit dem Pulsertiming-Verfahren wird am Beispiel der Aluminiumanalyse durchgefuehrt. Beide Verfahren liefern uebereinstimmende Ergebnisse. (orig.)Additional details
