Process and system for introducing gaseous hydrogen into water applicable in particular to the hydrogenation of the pressurized water of a nuclear reactor

Description

The description is given of a process for introducing hydrogen into water, the salient feature being that a current of gaseous hydrogen and a current of water are made to flow across a membrane in palladium based material so as gaseous hydrogen diffuse in the water by passing through the membrane. The palladium and silver alloy contains 77% palladium and 23% silver by weight. This apparatus includes a tubular cell respectively comprising at each of its ends a water intake and an outlet pipe and a membrane located inside the cell. Each end of the tube is connected respectively to a gaseous hydrogen supply pipe and a bleed tube. This process applies to the hydrogenation of the pressurized water of a nuclear reactor

Abstract (French)

On presente un procede d'introduction d'hydrogene dans de l'eau, caracterise en ce que l'on fait circuler, de part et d'autre d'une barriere constituee en un materiau a base de palladium, un courant d'hydrogene gazeux et un courant d'eau de facon a faire diffuser l'hydrogene gazeux dans l'eau par passage a travers la barriere. L'alliage de palladium et d'argent contient 77% ou poids de palladium et 23% en poids d'argent. Le dispositif comprend une cellule tubulaire comportant respectivement a chacune de ses extremites une conduite d'amenee et une conduite de sortie de l'eau et une barriere de diffusion disposee a l'interieur de la cellule. Chaque extremite du tube est raccordee respectivement a une conduite d'amenee d'hydrogene gazeux et a une conduite de purge. Ce procede s'applique a l'hydrogenation de l'eau pressurisee d'un reacteur nucleaire
