QCD analysis of jets recoiling against large transverse momentum muon pairs

Description
The process hadron + hadron → muon pair + jet + X is discussed in quantum chromodynamics in an infrared insensitive way. Particular attention is given to correlations in rapidity between the muon pair and the recoil jet as well as to the dependence of the decay distribution of the pair on the recoil jet variables. Several experimental tests are proposed. (author)
