P-odd effects in transitions between the components of the hyperfine structure of hydrogen, potassium, and cesium
- 1. Leningrad Institute of Nuclear Physics, USSR Academy of Sciences (USSR)
Description
The E1 amplitude is calculated for transitions between the components of the hyperfine structure of H, K, and Cs. For H this amplitude is due to the V--A part of the electron--nucleon weak interaction, while for K and Cs it is due to the electromagnetic interaction of the electron with the anapole moment of the nucleus. The possibility of experiments using a hydrogen maser and magnetic cells in K and Cs vapor is discussed. It is shown that for the line widths attained at the present time in these cells an experiment to observe the P-odd E1 amplitude in K and Cs is quite practicable
