High energy cluster ion beams-production and experiments

With the introduction of high-intensity MeV-energy cluster ion beams produced by electrostatic accelerators, several new phenomena can be studied relevant for material sciences as well as other research areas. In this talk a summary will be given on different cluster ion beams produced by the MP tandem accelerator in Orsay, France. Technical aspects of clusters ion production, acceleration, transportation and identification will be discussed in general. Experiments concerning the detector response and energy loss of cluster ion beams will be described as well as desorption experiments and crater studies (Author)
