Pitfalls of radiative corrections near a resonance
Description
The conventional perturbation expansion in which lowest order propagators represent free stable particles breaks down near resonance because the propagators blow up in that region. To describe the resonant lineshape, a Dyson summation is normally employed but this introduces gauge dependence at some formal order in the perturbation expansion. We discuss an alternative perturbation expansion that can be used to correctly describe the resonant peak and that is gauge invariant order by order
