On the feasibility of Am(III) separation from Pu(IV) in their coprecipitation as oxalates

Description
A procedure was developed for purification of plutonium to remove americium by oxalate precipitation using diethyl oxalate as a precipitant. The developed procedure was tested under laboratory conditions and on an enlarged installation. It was shown that decontamination factor of plutonium in reference to americium can exceed 2 x 10-3. Plutonium oxalate precipitate can be dissolved by heating with HNO3 in the presence of vanadium(V) catalyst and also by electrochemical dissolution using alternating current

Разработан метод очистки плутония от америция в процессе оксалатного осаждения с применением в качестве осадителя диэтилоксалата. Произведена проверка разработанного метода в лабораторных условиях и на укрупненной установке. Показано, что коэффициент очистки плутония от америция может достигать величин 2 x 10-3 и более. Для растворения осадка оксалата плутония успешно применена каталитическая разварка с соединениями ванадия(V) в качестве катализатора, а также электрохимическое растворение с применением переменного токаAdditional details
