Safety design of the NUCEF critical facilities

Description
Criticality safety, containment of radioactive materials and seismic design are summarized on critical facilities of NUCEF (Nuclear Fuel Cycle Safety Research Engineering Research Facility) out of general safety design of them. Specific features of the facilities such as plutonium nitrate solution handling, low temperature and pressure and low burn-up of fuels are taken into consideration in the safety design as well as characteristics as an experimental facility. Through the safety evaluation of them, it was proved that the facilities were designed enough to minimize the environmental influence by the potential hazards on its operation. (author)
