Minimization of the energy output of thermonuclear miniexplosion produced by explosion compression of D-T
Description
A method for minimizing the energy of thermonuclear miniexplosion by means of explosion compression of D-T is submitted together with an assessment of the critical radius of a D-T ball ensuring energy recovery by one order of magnitude higher than the energy of the external explosive charge. A system in which this can be achieved is composed of a core of D-T and an envelope, the impedance of which is adjusted to ensure a smooth passage of a shock wave through the two media. This requires a critical radius of the core of 0.3 cm for ordinary explosion and of 0.15 cm for modified explosion, the TNT equivalent of the recovered energy being equal to about 10 to 20 kg.
