Interlayer superconducting coupling in 2H-Tasub(0.95)Nbsub(0.05)S2, 4Hb-Tasub(0.95)Nbsub(0.05)S2 and 4Hb-Tasub(0.95)Nbsub(0.05)S2(Py)sub(1/2)

Detailed studies of the upper critical fields of 2H-, 4Hb-Tasub(0.95)Nbsub(0.05)S2 and 4Hb-Tasub(0.95)Nbsub(0.05)S2(Py)sub(1/2) were performed with applied field parallel (Hsub(c2parallel)) and perpendicular (Hsub(c2perpendicular to)) to the layer plane. The anisotropy ratio Hsub(c2parallel)/Hsub(c2perpendicular to) is about 4.5 for the 2H- and 11 for the 4Hb-polytype, respectively. In 4Hb-Tasub(0.95)Nbsub(0.5)S2(Py)sub(1/2), the anisotropy value Hsub(c2parallel)/Hsub(c2perpendicular to) exceeds 100, the largest anisotropy which is ever known. The enhanced anisotropy observed in the 4Hb polytype indicates an important role of semimetallic octahedral layer in determining the interlayer superconducting coupling. (orig.)
