Radiochromatographic assay for decarboxylating enzymes

A radiochromatographic method for the estimation of the activity of decarboxylating enzymes has been developed based on the simultaneous determination of the amino acid and the amine. The method proved to be simple, accurate and reproducible. While its applicability has been demonstrated for estimating the activity of lysine and ornithine decarboxylases, the method may be obviously extended to the determination of other amino acid decarboxylases.
