A method for dose determination in computerized tomography
Description
A method for exposure measurement in X-ray computerized tomography (CT) is discussed. The sequential spatial variation in exposure due to the scanning motion used in CT necessitates a different method of dose determination than conventional radiography. In this method, dose is determined by integrating the measured exposure profile in a direction perpendicular to the slice plane. Accuracy is ensured by sampling the exposure profile at very small distances. Lengths of thin polyethylene tubing filled with powder LiF are used as thermoluminescent dosimeters in the exposure measurement. Experimental results applying this method to an Alderson Rando Phantom are presented. (author)
