May was a busy month in Washington. The House of Representatives passed the Clean Air Act Amendments Act, DOE released an executive summary of the report by Smith Barney on DOE's uranium enrichment enterprise, and DOE acknowledged it is considering a purchase of Soviet SWU to offset part of its production. In addition, the Nuclear Power Assembly's conference, Nuclear Energy ampersand The Nineties: The Decade for Progress, was held at the end of May. A common theme among the speakers was that public acceptance of nuclear power will be the key to any new plant orders
