The plasma-assisted modified betatron

  • 1. Naval Research Lab., Washington, DC (USA). Plasma Physics Div.

Description

It is shown that the presence of a very tenuous background plasma can improve the performance of a modified betatron with respect to the problems of injection, diamagnetic to paramagnetic transition, and resistive-wall instability. Several physics issues relating to this background plasma are discussed. (author)
