Flexible shielding material for radiations

Description

Object: To form a thermoplastic resin composition containing a lithium compound to thereby give a flexibility thereto and to prevent generation of secondary radiation. Structure: 100 weight parts of lithium compound such as lithium fluoride, lithium chloride or the like and 5 to 60 weight parts of low molecular-weight polyethylene resin, of which average molecular weight is less than 8000, are agitated in a mixer such as Henshell mixer and during agitation are increased in temperature to a level above a softening point of the low molecular-weight polyethylene resin to form a mixture in which lithium compound particles are coated with the low molecular-weight polyethylene. 3 to 200 weight parts of the resultant mixture and 100 weight parts of olefin group resin are evenly mixed within an agitator to form a sheet having the desired thickness and dimension. The thus obtained material is easy in working and flexibility thereof can be adjusted according to uses. (Taniai, N.)
