Description

Desmoplastic fibroblastoma (DF) is a rare benign soft tissue tumor, the definitive diagnosis now mainly depends on pathological and immunohistochemical examinations. Imaging diagnosis is accomplished mostly by utilizing ultrasound, X-ray, CT, MRI, 18F-FDG PET/CT, and other technologies. Imaging exams can provide information about the location, size, shape, density, edge, and relationship with surrounding tissues of DF. The MRI manifestations of DF have certain characteristics, which is helpful to distinguish the general soft tissue from tumors based on T2WI low signal and lesion edge enhancement signs. We reviewed the imaging manifestations of DF to improve the understanding of its imaging characteristics. (authors)
