Description
The effect of the solution of small amounts of hydrogen on the structure and structural phase transformation of the intermetallic compound ZrV2 was studied using X-ray analysis and differential calorimetry. Additional maximum satellites appeared in X-ray diffractograms after cooling of the hydrogen containing intermetallic ZrV2 below T = 150 to 160 K. They might be caused by an oscillatory hydrogen concentration in the lattice. The wavelength of these hydrogen concentration waves amounts to 15 to 20 nm. At the same time a strong reduction of the latent heat of the structural transformation was observed. (orig.)
