CT-guided percutaneous puncturing and injection of absolute alcohol for the treatment of parapelvic renal cysts

Description

Objective: To explore the clinical value of CT-guided percutaneous puncturing and injection of absolute alcohol in treating parapelvic cysts, and to discuss its technical points. Methods: A total of 21 patients with parapelvic cyst were enrolled in this study. The diagnosis was confirmed by CT urography in all patients. CT-guided percutaneous puncturing and injection of absolute alcohol was carried out. The clinical results and complications were analyzed. Results: Successful puncturing with single procedure was obtained in all the 21 patients. Two patients had renal subcapsular and parenchymal hemorrhage in small quantities. Eight patients experienced pain during the injection of ethanol, which was relieved in 3-5 minutes. Re-examination with CT three months later in order to evaluate the therapeutic results showed that grade 0 was obtained in one, grade I in 2, grade II in 5 and grade IE in 13 cases. Most cysts disappeared within 3-6 months. The patients were followed up for 2-24 months and no recurrence of cyst was seen. Conclusion: For the treatment of parapelvic cysts, CT-guided percutaneous puncturing and injection of absolute alcohol can locate the lesion precisely. The therapeutic effect is reliable and the manipulation is simple with fewer complications. (authors)
