Instability of microcracks in molybdenum at heating under uniaxial compression
Creators
Description
Behaviour of microcracks in molybdenum single crystals was studied under axial compression at elevated temperatures. Mechanical stability of microcracks in molybdenum is shown to considerably reduce at elevated temperatures. It is due to the fact that external stresses are added to internal ones in the metal near a crack which enhances relaxation processes of healing of defects
