On the potential distribution and oscillation structure in a plasma-rotating trap
Description
Rotating plasma experiments in an open magnetic trap with coaxial and end electrodes are described (the electric field strength achieves 20 kV/cm). The profile of a radial electric field in a plasma is shown to coinside practically with that of the field given at the electrodes. It is also shown that the radial distribution of the electric field has great influence on the plasma stability. In the case of the decreasing-over-radius electric field, a high-frequency part of the spectrum of flute oscillations is suppressed in the plasma region with sufficiently high gradient of electric field
