Effect of age of lesion on pyrophosphate heart scan of dogs with experimental cardiomyopathy

  • 1. Karlova Univ., Hradec Kralove (Czechoslovakia). Lekarska Fakulta

Description

Experimental cardiomyopathy was induced in 12 dogs with high intravenous doses of adrenaline with theophylline. The capability of imaging the lesion scintigraphically using 99mTc pyrophosphate was studied following 4, 24, 48 hours and 7 days after the induction of the damage (in groups of 3 dogs). Scan positivity was obvious in 4 hour-old lesions, cumulation was maximal in 24 hours; 7 days following the lesion the scan was negative. The degree of cumulation correlated excellently with the creatinekinase plasma level; the cumulation was maximal when the pathological changes in the focus reached the myocytolysis stage.
