Magnetic mass spectrometer search at 2,750 m for hypothetical massive particles

Description
A cosmic ray mass spectrometer with superconducting magnet, wire spark chambers, and time-off-flight scintillation counters was used to search for massive singly charged particles at 2750 m. altitude. For any choice of hypothetical mass in the 5 to 10 GeV/c2 range, the upper limit to the vertical intensity was 10-6 cm-2 sec-1 (GeV/c)-1. For comparison, observed fluxes and upper intensity limits are given for anti p, t, 3He, and α particles. (orig.)

(orig.)Additional details
