Neutron scattering from (CD3ND3)2MnCl4
Description
For the perovskite-type crystal (CD3ND3)2MnCl4 neutron scattering experiments were performed concerning the magnetic behaviour, critical phenomena and lattice dynamics. The crystal is built up from layers, resulting in a quasi two-dimensional antiferromagnetic order, whereas the lattice dynamics shows a more three-dimensional behaviour; this can be explained by long-range Coulomb forces. Only the correlation lengths, which were determined by critical scattering, show a pronounced anisotropy. (orig.)

An dem perowskitaehnlichen Kristall (CD3ND3)2MnCl4 wurden Neutronenstreuexperimente zum magnetischen Verhalten, zu kritischen Phaenomenen und zur Gitterdynamik durchgefuehrt. Der Kristall ist schichtweise aufgebaut, was zu einer quasi zweidimensionalen antiferromagnetischen Ordnung fuehrt, waehrend die Gitterdynamik ein mehr dreidimensionales Verhalten zeigt; dies kann durch langreichweitige Coulombkraefte erklaert werden. Lediglich die Korrelationslaengen, die durdh die kritische Streuung bestimmt wurden, zeigen eine deutliche Anisotropie. (orig.)
