Description

Results of comprehensive experiments on the biological methylation of lead are reported. In contrast to other experiments in these attempts have been made to transfer methylgroups of different compounds and their C-14-labelled analogues to inorganic lead, lead-210 and ionic organic lead compound such as PbMe3OAc, PbEt3OAc and PbEt3Cl by microbiological activity. In none of the numerous experiments PbMe4 or PbEt3Me could be detected as the product of biological methyl transfer. Experiments with ionic organic lead salts yielded lead tetraalkyls like PbMe4 and PbEt4 only as a result of chemical reactions. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

(orig.)
