Small x behaviour of deep inelastic structure functions in QCD
Description
The gluon distribution and the structure function F2 for proton in the region of small x (10-4≤x≤10-2) and large Q2(10 GeV2≤Q2≤105 GeV2) are discussed in the framework of the perturbative QCD. The standard leading log Q2 approximation of the gluon distribution appears to lead to the similar results as the Balitzkij-Lipatov approach in which leading and beyond leading powers of log 1/x are consistently included. Comparison of the most popular parton parametrizations based on the standard (Gribov-Lipatov) Altarelli-Parisi approach is presented. They differ among themselves considerably in the small x region.
