On self-focusing of electromagnetic waves in a layer of an opaque plasma

Description
Experimental data are presented on the dynamics of nonlinear penetration of electromagnetic waves into a plasma with ωsub(p) > ω. It is demonstrated that nonlinear increase of transparency of the layer may involve both self-focussing of the wave field reflected from the plasma as well as self-focussing of the radiation penetrating the opaque region
