Electric-field effect in InP quantum films
Creators
Description
Atomistic calculations on the electric-field effect in quantum nanostructures are rare. In this work, field-induced energy shifts and wave function variations in InP quantum films of different orientations are calculated using an atomistic pseudopotential approach. The Stark shifts obtained from the atomic approach are found to be strikingly larger than what are obtained from conventional continuum theory. The field effects in In-terminated and P-terminated InP(001) films of the same thickness are found to be unexpectedly different. A strong field-induced coupling between the surface state due to the In dangling bond and bulklike state is revealed
