Effluent monitor response verification
Description
This paper is a continuation of the work presented at the Health Physics Society Midyear Meeting in Dearborn, Michigan. A system of verification of the proper calibration of liquid effluent monitor response to a typical pressurized water reactor (PWR) liquid waste stream is presented. The system uses data form the vendor-supplied photon energy responses of the monitors and a data acquisition system constantly collecting information from the monitors during releases. The radiochemistry data for a release are analyzed as described in this report to provide a calculated monitor response that is compared to the observed monitor response. Since the radiochemistry data for a release are traceable to standards, a simple calibration verification can be made for each liquid effluent release in a short time
