Description

The Brueckners nuclear matter theory is used in order to obtain an effective α-α interaction potential. Taking into account the quadrupling effects it is possible to obtain the binding energy and the mean-root-square radius consistent with the experimental data. The quadrupling forces are destroyed at small distances between two α -particles. Thus a phase transitior from the four-particle saturation curve to the normal one takes place. The problem of α-α scattering is considered using an effective potential. The phases are obtained, which describe well the experimental picture of α-α scattering. The quasi-stationary energy spectrum of 8Be is calculated too. (S.P.)
