Description
Reported is the case of a 73-year-old male found to have a quadruple primary cancer that included a laryngeal cancer (a squamous cell carcinoma), a gastric cancer (an adenocarcinoma), and two lung cancers (a squamous cell carcinoma and a small cell carcinoma) for a period of approximately two years. He was treated successfully for the laryngeal and gastric cancers, but he died of the lung carcinomas. Informatively, he was an atomic bomb survivor of Hiroshima, but the effect of the low-dose radiation to which be had been subjected to 43 earlier on the pathogenesis of this multiple carcinoma is not clear.
