Bainite morphology in an experimental 0.15C-1Cr-2Mo
Description
This paper presents investigations of bainitic structure in an experimental 0.15C-1Cr-2Mo steel. Heat treatment was made on the basis of dilatometric analysis and thermodynamic calculations taking into account the chemical composition of the investigated steel. The microstructure was investigated using optical metallography and TEM method. After austenitization at 1200 C followed by bainitic reaction in lower temperatures of isothermal transformation, the bainite was in the form of classical sheaves. The development of bainitic transformation, the amount, distribution and morphology of retained austenite and morphology of the bainite ferrite strongly depend on both; prior austenitization and isothermal temperatures within the bainitic range.
